Theresa and Bryan - Love at last

My friend Theresa's wedding was one of the best weddings I have ever attended and I had the pleasure of photographing the event - along with friend and fellow photographer, Lisa Jones. Theresa and Bryan both traveled rough roads before their paths converged and they found the mate they had each been searching for. The wedding took place at Krippendorf  Lodge at the Cincinnati Nature center in Milford, Ohio.
It suited them perfectly. The food was fantastic, the surroundings were lovely and rustic.

The photo below is my favorite of all the work I have done this year. Theresa's father saw her in her wedding dress and the emotion that happened before us was beautifully sweet. I don't shoot many weddings but these moments are always what makes them worth the energy that it takes to cover them photographically.

Thank you, Theresa and Bryan for letting me part of your day!

Fun couple!

Meet Jessica and Jasen.

I had the priviledge of shooting their engagement pictures yesterday downtown at the Banks.
They were so easy and fun to work with. I could not have asked for an easier session. Their love for each other was apparent throughout our time and made it very uncomplicated to get poses and even candid shots.

We also had a great time getting some family shots with Jasen's two boys.

I look forward to capturing their wedding in two weeks!

Color me....Blonde...Or Red!

Voting Deadline is May 25th!  And remember we need a 50 person minimum if I am going to let y'all decide this for me. :)

In July I am joining a team of fellow photographers to Tuscaloosa, Alabama for a very unique mission trip. In conjunction with Tuscaloosa Vineyard Community Church  and North River Baptist Church, we are going to spend a week helping victims of the 2011 'Mile Wide' tornado to make new photographic memories - many people lost all of their pictures in the devastation. The members of The Greater Cincinnati Fellowship of the Lens are mission oriented and are very excited to be making this journey.

Here is a description of what expenses we will need to cover on our journey.  Explore this whole website for all the information about the trip and see bios of all the participants.

As a fundraising effort I am offering up my hair for YOU to decide what color I will dye it for the summer and our trip to Alabama. For a tax-deductible donation (as low as $2!) toward our trip you can vote (as many times as you want to according to the donation amounts listed below) to answer the question:

Should Helen finally, really go a true platinum

or do a serious, no holds barred....

Here is the breakdown of how the donations and voting work

$2 donation = 1 vote
$5 donation = 3 votes
$25 donation = 10 votes

Our team has a  Pay Pal page where you can donate directly

After you make your donation, by clicking the Pay Pal button at the bottom of this page, send an e-mail to me: dinahcal @ yahoo . com (without the spaces) and tell me:

1 - your confirmation number
2 - the amount of your donation
3 - your vote/s

The voting deadline is Saturday, May 4th.

PLEASE NOTE: There must be a minimum of 50 participants before I will turn my hair over to the masses to make such a big decision, so share this with friends!

The color reveal will happen at our Fundraiser Dinner which will happen on June 7th. Details on location to follow on this blog as well as the MotleyCrewRescue blog linked above.

**If you prefer to pay by check, you can mail it to

Put "Mission Trip" in the memo line and include your vote/s on a separate piece of paper so our admin person knows that you are participating in the contest.

THANK YOU for helping to bring new memories to the people of Tuscaloosa!!

A visit to the dog park

Sketch met some new friends at the dog park yesterday! And aside from a very scary few moments when a large dog attacked a small dog (across the way in the big dog area) it was a good time....If your pooch is in this set and you'd like me to send you the file without my copyright tag, send an e-mail to lighbygracephoto @ gmail .com (without the spaces).

My Furry Valentine 2013 (with photo link)

Yesterday I attended the second annual rescue event in West Chester called My Furry Valentine. Fifty rescues and numerous vendors gathered together under one roof to promote animal adoption and educate people on animal welfare issues facing us today. Below is the link to the photographs from the event.

For any individuals or rescues who would like me to send a print to you without my watermark, please send an e-mail to with your mailing address (I will not place you on any mailing lists). As promised the photos of you and/or your pet are free and you may download them as they appear in the album. The only thing I ask is that if you re-post them that you do not alter them in any way or remove the watermark. THANK YOU!!

Share your Fuzzy Love Stories and win a free session!

My good friend recently lost her sweet dog, Tucker (pictured, along with his best friend Simba). As losses like these usually do, it reminded me how important it is to share the stories of our animal companions and celebrate the blessings that they are to our lives.

Therefore, in honor of Tucker and all of my own fuzzies (the ones still with us and the ones who have gone on) I am offering a forum for you to share the stories of your beloved animal companions and an opportunity for someone in the Greater Cincinnati Area* to win a free portrait session for your fuzzy!

Here's how it works:

 1) Submit a photo and a few paragraphs (500 word limit) about your animal companion to You can share anything - a funny story, how they came to be with you, how they touch your life, etc.

2) Beginning on Valentine's Day, I will feature each one in a blog post on this Blog.

3) On March 1st a panel of five people will select one of the animal companions to receive a free portrait session from LightbyGrace Photography. This includes a 45 minute shoot, viewing of online proofs and a disc of 15 photos.

*Please note that submissions are welcome from anywhere in the world, but the photo session pick will be limited to the Greater Cincinnati area. I wish I could travel the world and take animal portraits for everyone, but, alas...

I look forward to seeing and hearing about all of the fuzzy love that is out there!!!
